IT BECAME APPARENT AT THE INITIAL CONSULTATION THAT HE IS NOT ONLY AT THE TOP OF HIS FIELD, BUT HE IS ALSO A KIND & CARING PERSON. Dear Grantham Hospital team: I am writing to you in expression of my gratitude to the team of excellent doctors and nurses and the admin team at Grantham Hospital. I have recently undergone a revision knee replacement in Grantham under the care of Professor Lee. I had been experiencing severe pain in my knee since the summer of 2018. I had been to the doctors and asked them to refer me to Prof Lee as I had heard that he was an expert in knee surgery and has an excellent reputation.Having now gone through surgery and can fuly apprciate where this good reputation comes from. Thinking back to the summer of 2018, my pain was so bad and I had to use a crutch at work. As my condition deteriorated, I had to move on to 2 crutches which was not easy as a science teacher that had to look after 30 plus children at a time! Eventually, my pain was too bad and it was not safe and I was no longer able work. As the pain increased, alongside with the heavy pain killers and morphine, it also became difficult to look after my young family. I was desperate for a solution as it had really affected my work and family life , as well as my mental health. I used to call Professor Lee’s Secretary regularly to see if there were any cancellations. I was prepared to take anything. I would like to say a big thank you to Carol, Prof Lee’s Secretary for her patience and she always went the extra mile to help me. We managed to secure a late cancellation appointment with Prof Lee. I would also like to thank the admin staff for their support and making my outpatient appointment possible. The clinic staff in Grantham were very friendly. When I met Prof Lee in clinic he looked into my case in detail and understood my situation. At that point I was on a large amount of morphine but still in a lot of pain, which made me very depressed. After some x-rays and scans, Professor Lee got to the root cause of the problem and decided to operate on me urgently. I am very grateful that I chose such a talented and yet down to earth doctor to help me. I was then referred to the pre-assessment clinic, where I met a very nice team of nurses and nothing whom nothing was too much trouble. I fully understood and prepared for what would happen on the day of surgery After suffering with this chronic pain I was operated on in early February. During my stay in ward 2 I was well looked after by the nurses, physios and doctors. It was not long until I was discharged home and I have been getting better ever since. It has only been a few months but my life is now back on track. I am now off morphine and pain killers, no longer need my crutches. I have been back at work for a couple months now. The operation has given me my life back. I am eternally grateful to Professor Lee, UHLT and the team at Grantham, who efficiently and effectively dealt with my case and gave me an excellent service. Grantham hospital is a great example of how wonderful our NHS is. Thank you all! Warm regards, Chris Conlon

I damaged the cartilage (meniscus) in my right knee some years ago whilst cycling and managed the condition successfully. I decided not to have it operated on expecting that medical advances would take place in the ensuing decades but knew that one day it would become troublesome. In December 2018 I decided that treatment was required; I sought NHS care and was given an appointment but the timescales were far to long. I sought private health care (I do not have medical insurance) and found Professor Paul Lee from reading the consultant profiles on the private provider's website. I saw Paul who is professional, cheerful, positive and pragmatic in his consultation and delivery. I had my procedure only a few weeks after my first consultation. I was up and about immediately and cycling again shortly after. I am particularly impressed by the tiny marks left by the surgery; I think in a few months it will be very hard to tell that I had the procedure. My whole experience was excellent; in particular I found Paul personable and a complete pleasure to deal with. He explained things clearly in layman's terms. I feel fortunate to have chosen Paul. I would have no hesitation in recommending Professor Paul Lee for this type of condition.

Prof Lee and his team of staff involved with my surgery at Nuffield were fabulous. I was treated with care and professionalism and given full attention. I would highly recommend Pro Lee to anyone and should the need arise, I wouldn't hesitate to use him again.
